Personal Chef in Virginia Beach: Private Dining at Home, Oceanfront to Sandbridge

How private home dining works in Virginia Beach, from oceanfront rentals and Sandbridge houses to Great Neck and Red Mill kitchens.

Plated main course served at a private dinner in a Virginia Beach home

Virginia Beach is where most of our nights happen, and the city has more kitchen variety than people expect. An oceanfront rental with a builder-grade range, a Sandbridge house full of people in from out of town, and a Great Neck home with a proper kitchen all need a different plan for the same four courses.

Neighborhoods we cook in most

  • Oceanfront and North End rentals, usually for celebration weekends
  • Sandbridge houses, often multi-family groups of twelve to twenty-four
  • Great Neck, Alanton and Bay Colony, typically seated dinners of six to twelve
  • Hilltop, Red Mill and Kempsville, everyday-luxury weeknight dinners and birthdays

Rental kitchens need a different menu

Vacation-rental kitchens are stocked for coffee and cereal. We bring our own knives, boards, pans and serving pieces, and we design menus that do not rely on a functioning second oven or a stand mixer that may or may not exist. If you send a photo of the kitchen when you book, we will plan the menu around what is actually there.

Coastal sourcing

Being here means the menu can follow the water. Rockfish, flounder, local oysters and blue crab all show up on our tables in season, and a summer Virginia Beach menu should look nothing like a January one. When a guest asks for a steakhouse menu in July we will absolutely cook it, but we will suggest tasting the coast first.

A typical oceanfront evening

We arrive two to three hours ahead, set the kitchen, and have a first bite and a drink ready as guests come in. Courses pace out over roughly two hours so nobody feels rushed off the deck, dessert lands while it is still light in summer, and we leave the kitchen clean. The host does not touch a dish.

Booking windows

Summer weekends and holiday weeks book out first, particularly for Sandbridge and oceanfront rentals. Three to four weeks of notice is comfortable; a week is often possible midweek and in the off season.
