Questions

Before you book.

What is the difference between a private chef party and catering?
A private chef party is cooked in your kitchen and served course by course to a seated table, so the food arrives the moment it is plated. Luxury catering is built for larger groups — grazing tables, chafing-dish spreads, or passed plates — and is designed so guests can move around. Room 32 does both, and we will tell you honestly which one fits your space and guest count.
Do you travel to Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg?
Yes. Virginia Beach is our home base, and we regularly work in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg. If you are just outside those cities, ask anyway — we will let you know if the date works.
How far in advance should I book a private dinner party?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most dinners, and longer for holidays, graduation weekends, and December. Last-minute dates are worth asking about — we sometimes have an opening, and we would rather tell you no quickly than leave you waiting.
Do you handle dietary restrictions and allergies?
Always. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, shellfish and nut allergies, and kosher-style menus are all things we build around from the first draft of the menu rather than substituting at the last minute. Tell us what your guests need when you inquire.
Do you clean up afterward?
Yes. We bring our own tools, work around your kitchen, and leave it the way we found it. Your only job for the evening is to stay at the table with your guests.
